Tuesday night was a night of fun games. Two of the three games were called by forfeits so several players got to go out there and play just for fun!!! Here is the recap....
Tournament Game # 10 (Loser's Bracket) Rank 6) Soul's Harbor 2 (8 - 7) versus Rank 13) Raven Assembly (3 - 11). Soul's Harbor 2 has never had the problem with a lack of players during the entire season. They recently lost a close matchup to a strong Baptist Valley 2 team where SH2 only had 7 of their original players. The list of original players went from 10 or more players each night to 7 against B.V.2. to only five for this game versus the Raven squad. The lack of players due to injuries or vacations forced the Soul's Harbor 2 team to end the season prematurely. They exit the tournament with a season standings of (7 - 6) and a tournament record of (1 - 2). Bon Voyage SH2!!! Rank 13) Raven is loving their schedule thus far in the tournament. With the exception of a loss to a Rank 4) Missionary team, they have managed to get a forfeit win over the Rank 5) Community Heights and the Rank 6) Soul's Harbor 2 team. They are gliding smoothly throught the Loser's bracket thus far with games that are just for fun and practice!!! In their next game which will be on Friday July 29th at 6:15, they will be taking on the winner of the Soul's Harbor 1/Richlands Presbytarian game.
Tournament Game # 11 (Winner's Bracket) Rank 2) Soul's Harbor 3 (11 - 2) matched up against Rank 7) Richlands Presbytarian (8 - 6). This was the most competitive match up of the night, not to mention the only match up that real play took place. The game stayed close at the beginning with only a 2 run difference by the end of the 3rd inning. Then Soul's Harbor 3 found some holes and started to turn the bags and jumped out to a 10 - 3 lead after the 4th. They continued on to claim their 12th win of the season. I unfornately didn't get to catch the final 10 minutes of the game, so I don't know the final score, if anyone does, please post it and I will update this thread!!! As for what I do know, Soul's Harbor 3 moves to a (12 - 2) record and they move on to face the Rank 3) Baptist Valley 2 (11 - 3) team on Friday July 29th at 7:30. With that win for Rank 2) Soul's Harbor 3, the top four seeds in the tournament made it to the third round of the Winner's Bracket. Thus the top four are the final four, the season standings reflected perfectly as to how good these four teams are!!! There should be some really fierce competition from here on out in the Winner's Bracket!!! As for the Rank 7) Richlands Presbytarian team, their record now stands at a still impressive (8 - 7). They drop into the Loser's Bracket to face Rank 9) Soul's Harbor 1 on Thursday July 28th, in the opening match at 6:15.
Tournament Game # 12 (Loser's Bracket) In another Play of Go Home Match up in the Loser's Bracket, we match the teams of Rank 11) Cumberland Mountain (3 - 11) verses Rank 12) Oakwood (4 - 11). Cumberland was another victim of the lack of player rule. They were forced to end their season with a forfeit to Oakwood. Cumberland ends with a (3 - 10) regular season record and a (0 - 2) tournament record. Their final standings on the year is (3 - 12). Fair Well Cumberland Mountain, hope to see you next year!!! Rank 12) Oakwood, now (5 - 11) is on the same boat that Rank 13) Raven is riding on. Thus far both of their wins have come by forfeits of higher ranked opponents and their only loss thus far has been at the hands of the Rank 4) Missionary Titans. Their next opponent will be the winner of the Baptist Valley 1/Lebanon game. They will play ? on Friday July 29th at 8:45 p.m.
That completes Night 4 of the tournament. Congratulations to Soul's Harbor 3 for winning tonight and moving on in the Winner's Bracket, as mentioned above the top four are in the final four Winner bracket positions. And congratulations to Raven Assembly and to Oakwood for winning tonight and moving on in the Loser's Bracket!!! Stayed tuned for more updates as the tournament progresses... God Bless!!!

Some interesting side notes for the tournament thus far. On Day one, Rank 4 beat Rank 13, Rank 12 beat Rank 5 due to forfeit, Rank 8 beat Rank 9... On Day two, Rank 6 beat Rank 11, Rank 7 beat Rank 10, and Rank 13 beat Rank 5 due to forfeit... On Day three, Rank 4 beat Rank 12, Rank 1 beat Rank 8, and Rank 3 beat Rank 6... On Day four, Rank 13 beat Rank 6 due to forfeit, Rank 2 beat Rank 7, and Rank 12 beat Rank 11 due to forfeit... Thus far there have been a total of 4 forfeits in 4 nights. All of the forfeits have been at the favor of the underdog in the match up. In all of the games not counting the forfeits, the higher ranked team has won the match up!!! The top four in the standings have claimed the Final Four in the Winner's Bracket!!! Just some food for thought for ya!!!

The games are getting better than ever, and the closer we get to the big finale, the better they will be... Here's a recap of tonight's action!!!
Tournament Game # 13 (Loser's Bracket) Rank 7) Richlands Presbyterian (8 - 7) versus Rank 9) Soul's Harbor 1 (4 - 10). The rankings may have been close in this elimination match up, but the final score was far from it. Soul's Harbor 1 brung in two different pitchers to tame the wild horses of the Richlands Presbyterian team... But it wasn't quite enough, as the Richlands Presbyterian team rolled to a 26 - 10 win!!! Soul's Harbor 1 ends their season with a (4 - 9) regular season record and a (0 - 2) tournament record, that brings them to a final season standings of (4 - 11). This team had several good highlights from this year and several of their losses were by only a few points. Hang in there SH1, you will get them next year!!! Til then, God Bless!!! Rank 7) Richlands Presbyterian moves to a (2 - 1) record in the tournament and a (9 - 7) record for the overall season. That win guarantees them a positive standing for the season. It is looking up for this team. Their next task will be taking down the Rank 13) Raven (4 - 11) team on Friday July 29th at 6:15.
Tournament Game # 14 (Winner Bracket Showdown) One of the much anticipated Winner Bracket match ups for the top four in the league took place tonight. Rank 1) First Assembly (12 - 2) versus Rank 4) Missionary (12 - 3) went head to head. This started out as a give and take game for the first few innings as their weren't many runs separating these two top notch teams. First Assembly began to make a charge for the lead and put up several runs as Missionary made a few costly errors on defense. That combination propelled First Assembly to their 13th win of the year. They beat Missionary by a score of 25 - 11. They showed the audience exactly why they were Rank # 1!!! They moved to a (13 - 2) record and will await the winner of the Rank 2) Soul's Harbor 3/Rank 3) Baptist Valley 2 game. First Assembly will play that game with ? on Monday Aug. 1st, at 8:45 p.m. It will be the Winner Bracket championship game and it will mean that the winner of the Winner's Bracket will have a big advantage over the winner of the Loser's Bracket due to the fact the the winner of the Loser's Bracket will have to beat them twice in back to back games. A lot is at stake, so it is sure to be a thriller!!! Rank 4) Missionary takes their first loss of the tournament and drops to a (2 - 1) tournament record and a (12 - 4) overall record. They will now await the winner of the Rank 7)Richlands Presbyterian/Rank 13)Raven Assembly game. Missionary will play that game against ? on Monday Aug. 1st at 6:15 p.m.
Tournament Game # 15 (Loser's Bracket Match Up) Rank 8) Baptist Valley 1 (5 - 10) versus Rank 10) Lebanon (3 - 10). The two previous games ended early which forced this third game into a close forfeiture due to the 8:45 start time with one team not being there. But Lebanon came through and made it to the ballfields just in time with 8 players. They picked up the two ladies and were ready to roll. Lebanon took control of this game early by posting some nice run totals and playing some good defense. As a matter of fact, Lebanon kept up the good playing and never looked back. They rolled over Baptist Valley 1 and eliminated them with a final score of 21 - 11. Baptist Valley 1 ended the regular season with a (4 - 9) record, they had a (1 - 2) tournament life, and they finished with a season record of (5 - 11). You guys had a good season this year B.V.11, you all impressed me, I look forward to playing with you all again later this summer as the entire team will be sticking together as a whole and playing in the second season. Rank 10) Lebanon got their first win of the tournament and improved their season record to (4 - 10) overall. Plus this is the first ranking upset of the tournament not involving forfeits. Congratulations for being the first to go against the grain!!! They moved on in the Loser's bracket and will face Rank 12) Oakwood (5 - 11) on Friday July 29th at 8:45 p.m.
That completes Night 5 of the tournament, we are now past the half way mark. Congratulations to First Assembly for winning tonight and moving on in the Winner's Bracket. And congratulations to Richlands Presbyterian and to Lebanon for winning tonight and moving on in the Loser's Bracket!!! Stayed tuned for more updates as the tournament progresses... God Bless!!!

Here were the results of the games on Friday July 29th. I was not able to attend the games, so I only have the scores and the winners... The updates are as follows...
Tournament Game # 16 (Loser's Bracket Matchup) Rank 7) Richlands Presbytarian dominated the game over Rank 13) Raven Assembly by a score of 33 - 10. Raven was eliminated with a (2 - 10) season record and (2 - 2) tournament run which gives them a (4 - 12) final record for the season. Richlands Presbytarian moved on in the Loser's Bracket to take on the Rank 4) Missionary team.
Tournament Game # 17 (Winner's Bracket Match Up) Rank 2) Soul's Harbor 3 versus Rank 2) Baptist Valley 2. Judging by the match up the rankings, this looks like it would be a good one. Judging by the final score, I believe it was. Soul's Harbor 3 managed to collect the win with a total score of 23 - 20. This sent Baptist Valley 2 down into the Loser's Bracket. Soul's Harbor 3 moved on into the Winner's Bracket Winner Matchup Game.
Tournament Game # 18 (Loser's Bracket Match Up) This was a battle between the final two double digit ranking teams from the regular season. Rank 10) Lebanon took on the Rank 12) Oakwood team. As all of these scores near the end of the playoffs should be very competition, this game qualified for that status with flying colors. I was told that this game went for the full 7 innings and Lebanon came out on top with the lead at the final tick of the clock. Lebanon wins 23 - 22 over Oakwood. Oakwood finished the regular season with a (3 - 10) record and got a (2 - 2) record in the playoffs which gives them a final record of (5 - 12). Lebanon moves on in the Loser's Bracket and will face the Rank 3) Baptist Valley 2 team.
Congrats to Richlands Presbytarian, and Lebanon for moving on in the Loser's Bracket. And a big Congratulations to Soul's Harbor 3 for making into the final Winner's Bracket match up... Stay tuned for Monday's nights highlights coming up next!!!

The Monday night games were action packed from the first game to the last game!!! This was the final night of having three games in the schedule, and the players of the games gave the audience all they could cheer for!!!
Tournament Game # 19 of a possible 25... Loser's Bracket Match Up Rank 4) Missionary (12 - 4) took on Rank 7) Richlands Presbyterians (10 - 7). This was the perfect game to start the night of action packed games. This was a Loser's Bracket Match up, yet both teams were already in the double digit winning column for their records. So both teams knew how to win, and they were both determined to get one more win tonight. Seven innings of this game came and went and no winner could be decided as both teams were tied with a 10 - 10 score. Both teams played excellent defense in the eight inning as both teams went through the tops of their lineups and the score once again remained at 10 - 10. Finally in the 9th inning, Richlands Presbyterians got a man on first with no outs. One easy pop up play for Missionary's defense got the first out and a hold of the runner on first. Adam Davis for Richlands Presbyterians comes up to bat with a fire in his eye, he got the pitch he wanted and CRACK!!! Over the left field homer fence it went!!! Two runs on the board for Richlands Presbyterians giving them a 12 - 10 lead in the top of the ninth inning. And for good measure, they put up a 13th run on the board before ending the inning giving them a 13 - 10 lead. Missionary comes up to back and gets a man on second base with the lead off. Then a easy pop up for the first out. Missionary then hit the ball toward the first baseman, who made a nice grab and tagged the first base for the second out. Two more pitches and the Richlands Presbyterians defense got what they wanted, an easy pop up to right field for the final out and the go ahead move on in the Loser's Bracket. The underdogs of Richlands Presbyterians took down the Rank 4) Missionary team by a score of 13 - 10. Missionary finished the regular season in 4th place with a (10 - 3) record and they had a (2 - 2) tournament record which gives them a grand total of 12 wins and 5 losses. Rank 7) Richlands Presbyterians move on in the Loser's Bracket to take on the winner of the Baptist Valley 2/Lebanon game which is the game to follow... They will play again on Tuesday in the first game of the night.
Tournament Game # 20 of a possible 25... Loser's Bracket Match Up Rank 3) Baptist Valley 2 (11 - 4) versus the Rank 10) Lebanon (5 - 10) team. According to the rankings, this game should have been a blow away, but the Lebanon team didn't want to agree with that tradition, they wanted to pull another upset like the Richlands Presbyterians did. When they took the field, they played like they wanted the win as well!!! This was an age old battle between youth versus experience. The score went back and forth within one or two runs of each other all the way until the 4th inning. Lebanon was down by one score and they were up to bat, in that one inning between no outs and 3 outs, Lebanon managed to put together a 6 run jump for their team. That game them a 5 run lead going into the 5th inning. In the 5th, Baptist Valley managed to knock that lead to within 2. Making it a 2 run ballgame with 5 innings complete. In the 6th inning, Lebanon continued to play good defense, but the Baptist Valley 2 team began to turn on the base hitting/bag turning mode. They put together a nice 5 run inning of their own giving them a 3 run lead by the end of the 6th. The 7th was much the same, as the base hitting/hole hitting continued for the Baptist Valley 2 team. They put another 4 runs up on the board in the final inning which sealed the deal and game them the win by a total score of 25 - 18. The young Lebanon team put together a nice game and a nice run in the tournament, but the experience of the Baptist Valley 2 team was to much to overcome in this game. Lebanon finished the regular season in 10th with a record of (3 - 9) and a tournament run of (2 - 2) which gives them a final season record of (5 - 11) which is good enough for 8th place overall in the standings... Rank 3) Baptist Valley 2 moves on the face the winners of the above game, the Rank 7) Richlands Presbyterians team. As mentioned earlier, this game will be played out on Tuesday in the early game. It should be a good one, as both teams have showed some awesome softball talents this year. The winner of the game has to catch their breathe fast, cause they have to play the only double header match up of the tournament. They play the loser of the Rank 1)First Assembly/Rank 2) Soul's Harbor 3 game, which will be updated in the below game.
Tournament Game # 21 of a possible 25 games... Winner's Bracket Championship Game This was the game everyone has been waiting for. A rematch of Rank 1) First Assembly versus the Rank 2) Soul's Harbor 3 team. Both teams finished the regular season with a (11 - 2) record, but First Assembly grabbed the top ranked spot with a win in a head to head match up of the two teams by a score of 24 - 19 in regular season play. Both teams are now sitting on a (13 - 2) record heading into the Winner's Bracket Championship Game. In the top of the first inning, First Assembly proved why they were Rank 1 by putting up a total of 10 runs!!! Soul's Harbor 3 only responded with a total score of 2 runs in the first inning. But Soul's Harbor 3's defense got back in control of the 2nd inning and only gave up 3 runs. Unfortunately their offense didn't get turned on yet as they were shut out in the 2nd. First Assembly lead 13 - 2 after 2 innings. In the 3rd inning, First Assembly once again turned their offense on by bringing in another 10 runs with an assortment of homers, doubles, and base hits. Soul's Harbor 3's offense was once again shut out with game First Assembly an early lead of 23 - 2 after 3 innings. Soul's Harbor 3 had a good showing of defense, but First Assembly was just hitting way too good tonight, almost everything they hit was a base turner. First Assembly went on and claimed the highest run total record for one game with a total score of 40 points. Meanwhile, First Assembly's defense held the very strong offensive team of Soul's Harbor 3 to only 7 runs for the entire night. First Assembly proves that they were the Rank # 1 team for a reason, as they clobber the Rank # 2 team by a total score of 40 - 7. With that win, First Assembly gives themselves a break of ball playing until Thursday in the 2005 Church Championship Game. Most importantly, since they won the Winner's Bracket, they have a one game advantage over whichever team that comes out of the Loser's Bracket due to the fact the the team coming out of the Loser's Bracket will have to beat First Assembly twice to claim the title of 2005 Church Softball Champions!!! First Assembly gets to sit back and wait for Tuesday's results to find out who they take on in the final. It will be one of three teams, Rank 7) Richlands Presbyterians, Rank 3) Baptist Valley 2, or Rank 2) Soul's Harbor 3. Out of those three teams, Richlands Presbyterians is the only one to beat them in regular season play this year. There is only 3, possibly 4 games left of the season this year in Church League play. Come on out and support the team you think is the best. There are only two games being played tomorrow night, but both will be filled with talented ballplayers and good Christian fun!!! Hope to see you out there!!! Stay tuned for the final updates of the church league softball game... God Bless

The final day of tournament before the Championship Match on Thursday has come and gone. So has 12 of our original 14 team lineup in the church league this year. Only two teams remain to go head to head in what should be a Championship Match to remember!!! As for Tuesday night, here is the recap!!!
Tournament Game # 22 of a possible 25... With only four teams remaining, the Rank 7) Richlands Presbytarians planned on upsetting the Rank 3) Baptist Valley 2 team just like they took down the Rank 4) Missionary team on Monday... Both teams came out with some awesome defense as well as some strong offense coming out of the batter's box. Throughout the course of the game, the lead shifted back and forth with both teams making smart decisions on who to walk and who to pitch to, when to attempt to throw out a runner and when to hold your ground, and when to run for a base and when to tag up!!! This was a game filled with some very smart and talented ball players. Just as suiting, the result was just as close as the strentgh of both of these teams. Rank 7) Richlands Presbytarians made a valent charge through the Brackets in the playoffs, but Rank 3) Baptist Valley 2 had one to many tricks up their sleeve to be taken down. Baptist Valley 2 goes on to win the game 16 - 15. Richlands Presbytarians finished the regular season with a (7 - 6) record and a very impressive tournament record of (4 - 2)... Their season record stands at (11 - 8)... Nice Season Richlands P., I am sure you guys are going to continue making sparks in the Second Season right around the corner!!! That leaves only three teams in the tournament, which is just as fitting, cause the final 3 teams are the top 3 ranks for the regular season. With this win, Rank 3) Baptist Valley 2 got a 20 minute break in order to catch their breathe so that they can take on the Rank 2) Soul's Harbor 3 team in the first tournament double header for any team!!! That preview is next...
Tournament Game # 23 of a possible 25.... Rank 2) Soul's Harbor 3 (13 - 3) versus Rank 3) Baptist Valley 2 (13 - 4) began the fierce battle of becoming a 14 season game winner and an opportunity to square off with the Rank 1) First Assembly team on Thursday for the Championship Title!!! This game began with some good competition from both sides. After the first inning the score stood at a close 5 - 4 Soul's Harbor 3 lead. Then some more runs came in for both teams in the second innings giving Baptist Valley 2 their first lead of the night with a score of 11 - 7. Just when it looked like Baptist Valley 2 was wearing down after playing that first game against Richlands Presbytarians, they caught their second wind and began playing the BV2 ball they are known for!!! They turned on the defense and they turned up the heat in the batter's box with perfect placement of their hits. After a good battle for the first two innings, they went on cruise control and stretched out their 4 run lead into a 33 - 9 lead at the mid point of the 7th innning. Soul's Harbor 3 made a valent effort in the bottom of the 7th bringing in 5 runs, but it was a little too late. Baptist Valley 2 won the game by a final score of 33 - 14. Soul's Harbor 3 came into the tournament with a (11 - 2) record and made a (2 - 2) tournament run, with this loss, they ended their season with a (13 - 4) record.
Rank 3) Baptist Valley 2 managed to collect their 14th win of the year and they now stand at an impressive (14 - 4) record. Will that be enough to take down the Rank 1) First Assembly (14 - 2) team.... We will soon see!!! Thursday is the Championship Match Up!!! Don't miss it!!!!
