Persuant to ASA Rule 5 Section 4 C, the final score is noted as Jackrabbits winning the final championship game 7-0 as a forfeit. I have to say I'm proud of my team and they way they've taken it on the chin several times this year. They never complain, they just go out and play great ball...and I have to say we were on our game what we were allowed to actually play tonight.

Now that is a can of worms, Porkchop!
We won 12-9 over First Assembly to get to the Championship against Community Heights. We won the first game 19-7 over them to force a second game (well, third for us). Then the forfeit...

How was it 7-0 in a 3-3 game

That's just what Rule 5 Section 4 C says, Joey.

That might be what it says but how was it us who forfeited when your guys were right in the middle of what happened as well?

We didn't have someone walk onto the field during the game.

Neither did we, we dont control the fans now do we anyone who walked out of those bleachers could have been from your team as well as ours, we were still on the field last I checked Marcus

Vale, we won the first game against First Assembly (we were in the losers bracket) to get to the championship games. We had to beat Community Heights twice. Well, we did so the first game 19-7. The second game was tied 3-3 when one of our players hit the pitcher for the second time in the game (after doing it multiple times Friday against the same team). Understandably they were upset about it. Only that person can say for sure whether he was doing it on purpose, so I'm not going to make a judgement either way on the matter. The problem came when a family member came out of the stands onto the field and the umpire called it by the book right there. That's not the way I would have preferred to take it, but we were playing very well last night...probably playing our best ball of the year.
There were things said that shouldn't have been said. I appreciate the fact that Terry and Jason Stiltner have both talked to me and everything is cool between us on a personal level.

Sweeney, I didn't see your post earlier. Personally, I'm just not even sure I ever want to play in this league again anyway, so it doesn't matter either way to me.

Personally Sweeney, I dont want to even see a softball field right now, and like Marcus, im just not sure if I want to subject myself and my kids to these sorts of displays again. Id never have hard feelings at you Sweeney. You had a great point.
Theres alot of things to be said about last night, and as always, I try to think things out before I go shooting off my mouth. Ive thought, so im gonna shoot!
Its a huge shame and a disappointment to have such a VERY WELL PLAYED BALLGAME marred my such a display that caused the premature end to the game. A 3-3 game where both teams are obviously playing some outstanding ball shouldnt have to end in a 7-0 Forfeiture Win for EITHER team. Again, I know the rules and I accept that. Were we playing some great ball...yeah...noone should be able to dispute that! Were Community Heights playing some great ball? Darned right they were! They had a 3-0 lead for 2 + innings, so noone can dispute that either! Do I think we were gonna win the game? I DO INDEED! We came back and tied em up at 3s, had runners on, and then...well...the final shot heard round the recpark! At that point right there, the game, the score, the championship, the season, the league...AND EVEN GOD...went right out the window to those right in the midst of the controversy! If God was there on that field...its most surely with His back turned from us, because He must turn away from sin!!! Im sure some of you may remember reading that somewhere?!
Alot of things were said that I was so appauled by, and so sickened to even be apart of. I purposely stayed away from the Mens League that played here in Honaker for many years because I didnt wanna be apart of such ignorance and unsportsmanlike displays. My kids, several wives, mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, grandparents and pets were there and got to witness some really UNCHRISTIANLIKE and UNPROFESSIONAL acts. Some observers that were at the field to support and cheer and enjoy the evening even got fingers poked in their faces and slandered! RIDICULOUS!!!
I am ACCUSING NOONE and I am BLAMING NOONE. These situations escalate and their is none left unaffected in some way.
Honestly, we prayed before the games started, and when we prayed, we thanked God for the OPPORTUNITY to come to the field and play some good ball with good people. What did we do with that opportunity? We certainly didnt play the game like it was in HIS NAME did we? We certainly didnt keep our Christian attitudes and lift him up in the face of adversity, did we?
I was thankful to get out there and play some softball with such great teams all season long. Their has always been some sort of controversy, and I guess its probably only fitting that the season END with controversy.
I thought the 2 best teams were out there. I thought we were representing the League very well. Unfortunately at the end, I was hurt, aggravated, ticked off, full of regret and sorrow. I appologize for stuff many times that I have no control over and is of no fault of my own, and the GOOD LORD KNOWS that I have took one on the chin many times when it wasnt even my place to do so. I shouldnt have to hang my head because of what happened, and I wont! I have no conviction of wrongdoing in my heart, and my spirit is free from any sin regarding Heights/Rabbits as well. Im sure alot of praying went on last night after calm and order fell into place, and my prayer is that forgiveness takes place where its needed.
God Bless each and every one of you as you have gotten through this venting of mine. I pray you dont find any offense to anything ive said, but if you have...I urge you to pray first, and make sure that what I said didnt upset you for the wrong reasons! Then, only then, if you feel the need or just want to, reply back, or call me personally, or come and talk to me face to face about the situation. Send me an IM and I will give you my number, or we will determine a place to meet and talk.
I love each and every one of you, and I pray that our paths cross many more times in life. As for on the field, that may not be the right path for me now.
Chuck

That's a great post Chuck...but the question is still out there, what exactly did we do wrong to 'forfeit' the game?
